Cold emails and calls to be banned in Ukraine

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is considering Draft Law No. 9206 that prohibits cold emails and calls to Ukrainians. The draft law was passed as basis at a first reading on 2 May 2023.

This was announced on the Ukrainian Telemaraphon by Yevgenia Kravchuk, member of the Verkhovna Rada from Servant of the People party.

“We will ban spam emails and all phone calls offering you a product or service. Both cold emails and calls will be completely prohibited,” she said.

Yevgenia Kravchuk also added that the draft law will regulate product placement (a form of advertising, in which a product appears or is mentioned as part of a film, TV series or TV show) in Ukraine.

“It’s when a character has a drink, and you see the brand of the drink. It’s advertising that should be regulated,” she completed.
