Mevis TM: made with love and concern for children

Manufacturer of children’s clothing under Mevis TM based in Khmelnytskyi was among the first companies to apply for the next edition of BABY EXPO to be held in spring 2019.

Mevis is one of the best known kids and teens clothing trademarks in Ukraine. We have recently interviewed its founder Yevhen Kudlaiev.

- How often do you see your designs in the streets? What do you feel then?

- I see our designs every day and have incredible feelings, especially when I see our older designs that are still wearable.

- What is a price segment of your products?

- We manufacture mid-price clothing. But it does not mean medium quality. We closely monitor quality at every production stage, from fabrics and accessories supplied to the shortest seam made.

- Are you trend setters or followers?

- Both. We visit trade fairs, fashion shows by renowned designers, borrow something and let others borrow from us. We have demonstrated our clothing in Russia and Poland. We export to Belarus and Germany. We have ambitious plans, so we are still expanding our borders.

- What kind of plans?

- We focus on opening more stores. Today we have three stores, two in Khmelnytskyi and one in Kamianets-Podilskyi. We are preparing to open two more stores in Vinnytsia and Ternopil.

- Do your own children wear clothing by Mevis TM?

- Off course. However, my older daughter has already come of age. And my younger daughter who is eleven years old volunteers for Mevis TM as a model. But ‘volunteers’ is a faux-pas word, as she promptly gets any item she likes.

- School wear by Mevis TM is designed only for girls. Is it a sort of ‘gender discrimination’?

- Certainly not. The reason is our responsible attitude. We don’t have a special suit sewing line, so we cannot manufacture perfect school wear for boys. And we cannot compromise when it comes to excellent quality.

- What designs do you like the most?

- I like them all, as it is my wife who is guiding designers’ work. As a director, I am responsible for raw materials, engineering support, financial and logistical issues. There are rare cases when I disapprove some designs. But the practice suggests that such designs are not less desirable and salable.

- And our common question. What have you got from participation in BABY EXPO?

- We have got a boost. At the beginning, we participated as visitors, and four years ago became exhibitors. BABY EXPO means moving forward, getting acquainted with new business partners and customers.

- What are you dreaming about?

- We are dreaming about political stability that is a key for business stability and a little bit support from the state.
