A Doll Like Me

A Doll Like Me

Have you already heard about the wonderful project A Doll Like Me from Amy Jandrisevits? She sews dolls for children with special needs. Because all children are unique and beautiful, and everyone deserves to look into the sweet face of a doll and see their own.

Amy Jandrisevits works from photos and offers her customers dolls that look so similar to their future owners that they can immediately identify with them – dolls with albinism, prosthetic legs and feeding buttons, birthmarks and scars that match those of their owner.

Amy believes that every child (regardless of limb difference, body type, medical condition, birthmarks and hand differences) should have a doll that looks like them, and medical play is helpful for psychosocial adjustment.

She has always been a doll collector and was a pediatric oncology social worker, so doll-making combines her love of dolls and passion for social work. She believes that dolls can help with psychological adjustment in a big way and have a key role in play therapy.

Amy produces her dolls on her dining table at home and sells them for 100 USD. According to her GoFundMe campaign, she uses the funds raised to cover the costs of dolls for those who can’t afford them. People can transform their "kindness" and "goodwill" into dolls by making donations.
